What You’ll Learn:
The PADI eLearning for the Rescue Diver course can be completed at your leisure and in the comfort of your home or hotel room. This portion of the course should take eight to 12 hours. The in-water training sessions with your instructor should take an additional two days. These include the self-rescue review, the 10 Rescue Diver exercises and the two rescue scenarios.

Our experienced instructors will guide you through a combination of classroom theory, pool practice, and open-water scenarios to ensure you are fully prepared.
Course prerequisites:
Any diver with an Open Water (or Jr. Open Water) Diver certification may enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver course, complete Rescue Diver eLearning, and participate in Rescue Exercises in confined water.
Minimum Age: 12
Rescue Divers certified between the ages of 12-14 earn a Junior Rescue Diver certification.
To participate in open water Rescue Exercises and be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, the student must complete the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and hold a PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver certification. A PADI (or other qualifying) Advanced Open Water Diver certification also meets this prerequisite.
Certification also requires CPR and first aid training within the past 24 months. If you don’t have this training, you can enroll in an Emergency First Response® (EFR) Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course with your PADI Instructor.
The Rescue Diver course teaches you to prevent and manage dive emergencies, improving your safety skills and confidence underwater.
Divers aged 12 or older with an Advanced Open Water certification and current CPR/First Aid training can enroll.
You’ll practice problem-solving techniques, assist other divers, and respond to both minor and major emergencies.
The Rescue Diver course typically takes 2–3 days to complete.
Yes, a current Emergency First Responder (EFR) or equivalent certification is required.
The course is designed to challenge you, but your PADI Instructor will ensure it’s manageable and rewarding.
